Block was also in step, thanks to a killer pair of Manolo Blahnik strappy shoes in rich burgundy—a nod to the footwear she wears onstage in the same shade. “The shoes really make you feel grounded and confident,” she said of the square-toe block heels, a silhouette Jones requested of costume designer Jennifer Caprio. “They wanted me in a higher heel, but he’s already two inches shorter than me!” she said. “We are a full-fledged community—nothing I can do onstage can happen without the creative team, and conversations like that are why we’re here tonight.”
